Dr Judith Balcerzak’s clinical and administrative history spans over thirty-eight years including 25 years providing treatment, education, and management of addictions and addictions programs in the private and pubic sectors. As a faculty member at IUGS since 2005, Dr Balcerzak also oversees Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Distance Education Programmes. Completing her second doctorate at IUGS in 2010, Judith’s writings on workplace bullying have garnered national attention. Dr Balcerzak’s book, Workplace Bullying: Clinical and Organizational Perspectives, was published by National Association of Social Workers Publishing (NASW) in 2015. Among her accomplishments are several articles appearing in nursing and addictions studies journals.
As an adjunct faculty member at California Lutheran University (Thousand Oaks, CA), Judith teaches courses in psychopharmacology, family violence, critical thinking for research, and theories of counselling & psychotherapy. Her career in higher education includes over three decades as faculty in graduate degree programmes, university programmes, and community colleges. In 2003, the Human Services Associates Degree and Certification Programmes created and implemented by Dr Balcerzak, were approved by California’s State Chancellor of Community Colleges. Preparing entry level for social service workers, these programmes have provided degrees and certificates to more than 300 students in the past decade. In 1977, Judith completed a Master’s degree in social work at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where she was awarded a scholarship from the National Institute for Mental Health. Her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Michigan State University was completed in 1973. Dr Balcerzak has held a license in clinical social work in California since the early 1980’s and has maintained a private clinical practice in California since 1983. Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners as a Continuing Education Provider, Judith develop has developed and delivered a variety of workshops for social workers and other clinicians.
Dr Balcerzak serves as a faculty presenter and clinical oral examiner at International University for Graduate Studies residency programmes in Dominica. An avid scuba diver and sailor, Judith has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Caribbean and the South Pacific. Dr Balcerzak and her husband, Dr Daniel Jordan, divide their time between their homes in Southern California and Dominica.
